In 1995, the Illinois Fighting Illini Men’s Wheelchair Basketball team won the National Championship. Playing the National Tournament in St. Louis, the Fighting Illini defeated the University of Texas-Arlington Movin’ Mavs to claim the title. Thirty years later, Illinois is hosting the 2025 NIWBT, and as such, we will be honoring the 1995 team and their accomplishments. Please join us on Saturday, March 29th, between in Women’s 3rd Place Game at noon and the Men’s Championship game at 2PM, in honoring that championship squad!

In Remembrance

Two members of the 1995 Championship Fighting Illini team, Mike Prescott and Rob Knight, have unfortunately passed away. Along with remembering their efforts as a part of the 1995 Championship team and their contributions at Fighting Illini, we want to remember them for all they did even though they are not with us anymore.
