Mental Health Training Opportunities

Mental Health trainees are an integral part of DRES. Trainees provide individual and group therapy to registered students. In addition, psychologist trainees can gain experience conducting psychological/neuropsychological assessment for University of Illinois degree-seeking students who have had no prior diagnosis/testing and are experiencing significant academic distress. All trainees receive individual and group supervision from a licensed mental health professional.

Opportunities for Graduate Students in Mental Health

DRES is a training site for all levels of graduate students in the mental health field. Every year, we recruit trainees from the following University of Illinois programs:

  • Clinical/Community Psychology
  • Counseling Psychology
  • Master’s of Social Work
  • Master’s of Science in Mental Health Counseling

Opportunities for Predoctoral Psychology Interns

DRES is an APPIC pre-doctoral internship site for counseling and clinical psychology doctoral students. For more information, please read our internship brochure below.

If you are a prospective predoctoral school psychology intern, DRES is a part of the APA-accredited Illinois School Psychology Internship Consortium (ISPIC).

Opportunities for Postdoctoral Training

Postdoc opportunities are also available for psychologists who wish to gain supervised experience needed for licensure. Clinical experiences available include opportunities for individual therapy, group therapy, psychological assessment, supervision of graduate students, and training.
